Kiso Yoshinaka (Minamoto Yoshinaka) and Tomoe

Minamoto Yoshinaka and a beautiful female warrior Tomoe were childhood friends, and when adolescence came around, they became in love with each other naturally. Tomoe became Yoshinaka’s concubine. Tomoe ran about on battlefields with Yoshinaka and was ready to confront a demon or a god, mounted or on foot. Yoshinaka sent her out as his first captain, equipped with strong armour, an oversized sword, and a mighty bow.

Yoshinaka became famous when he attached the torch to the horn of cows at the Kurikara Pass , and drove Heike's large force into a corner and destroyed it completely. After that, Yoshinaka entered Kyoto and was nominated as the Barbarian subduing Great General. Soon he was defeated by Kamakura army Awazu close to Zeze at the age of 31 years. As the last act to buy time for her husband to commit seppuku, Tomoe rode into the enemy forces and decapitated the strongest warrior.
